  16. St. Patricks Day is a religious holiday that is celebrated internationally on March 17. It is named after Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland. He built many churches and baptised many people. It originated as a Catholic holiday but is now celebrated by Protestants also. It became an official feast day in the early 17th century. Over time, Saint Patrick's Day has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Irish culture. Some traditions people do on St. Patricks Day are wearing green. If you don't have any green on most likely you will get pinched. I remember once when I didn't wear green. I got pinched and then I tripped the person later that day. So, if you forget, all you have to do is get a green marker and color a little bit on your skin. One of the most common traditions on St. Patricks day in Chicago is that they will dye the Chicago River green.

  17. St. Patrick's Day is dedicated to a man named St. Patrick. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
The wierdest thing about it is that St.Patrick wasn't even Irish.
